Dear LAMA Members,

 

First I want to apologize for falling down on the job of up keeping the LAMA web site and missing most of the meetings. I NEED you to take pictures and take notes at the meetings and send them to me so that I can put the news on the LAMA web site.

In the past three years I have built an entire new and better shop (with a LOT of help from LAMA members and friends around the country). I have single-handedly done a 90% rebuild of a rental house in Abita Springs which required 100% of my spare time and spare money. I finished the Abita house in the end of April 2008. On May 5 th a rare tornado destroyed our home place near Bogalusa. Now we are temporarily living in the Abita house. At the same time I had to remodel a rental apartment that we have here in Abita. No time to rest. We have just acquired 3-1/2 acres adjoining our home place property and are beginning to build a new house there. I am not going to do most of the labor on this house but I am going to be my own ‘general contractor’, while at the same time working my ‘day job’ at Isabel Machine and Fabrication. Once the new house is built and we move in then I might be able to concentrate on getting Magic Hammer Forge back up and running.

Back to the web site. You LAMA Members need to take pictures of the meetings and take notes of what you see there. If you take a class somewhere, please tell me about it. If you have something to sell, tell me about it. If you are looking for a piece of equipment or supplies, let me know. If you read a metal working / blacksmithing book, tell me. I will put it on the web site. And please don’t forget that ALL LAMA Members can use the LAMA e-mail list. I send things to the list for you all to read and you can send to the list as well.
