Here is a pic of a couple RR Spike knives I make, one is a hunter style and the other a skinner (top). They are each hand forged entirely out of a high carbon spike, discernable by the HC markings on the top, and are hardened to approx HCR57 or thereabouts. I place the traditional blacksmith's finish on them by carbonizing oil and beeswax, but since they may possibly be used to cut game or food, I use olive oil and beeswax, so they're food safe finishes.
